THANK YOU for sharing your ideas at LA SAFE Public Meetings. Here’s what’s next!

LA SAFE Public Meetings — You shared. We listened. The momentum is building!

Let’s continue to work together to co-design your community plans for coastal adaptation

Thank you for your interest and participation in the LA SAFE planning initiative and public meetings. We have exciting news we want to share with you, our community of stakeholders, about the next steps in this process.

Over the past several months, more than 1,000 residents of coastal parishes came together in public meetings to share their visions of how they would like to build stronger, safer communities. At parishwide meetings and in smaller, community meetings, residents took the opportunity to learn more about coastal land loss and the increased flood risks south Louisiana faces. The most recent meetings encouraged residents to share their own ideas so they can begin the process of shaping those ideas into specific parish plans that will lead to projects funded through LA SAFE.

Whether you attended a parishwide meeting or a smaller, community gathering, we appreciate your voice. You have been heard. The LA SAFE team captured every idea, and we are energized by the interest of so many in this process.

The momentum is building.

Here is where we are: We will invite you to come together again in late July and early August, so you and your neighbors can begin to turn your vision for your community into plans for your parish. Real plans. Not a document that sits on a shelf, but plans for projects that will be funded through LA SAFE to help build stronger communities.

We will stay in touch. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (all at @LiveLaSafe). Visit our website at LASAFE.la.gov. Stay tuned for the details on dates and locations for the next round of LA SAFE meetings, and check the timeline below to track our progress.

Again, thank you for your interest. You shared. We listened. Please stay involved because your participation and ideas are fueling the momentum of LA SAFE.

Kindest Regards,
