Louisiana’s Strategic Adaptations for Future Environments is prepared to work with you in deciding on adaptation projects for residents of Jefferson, Lafourche, Plaquemines, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany and Terrebonne parishes in this, the final round of meetings.
As 2017 draws to a close, it’s time to make decisions while also taking the time to celebrate a year of hard work and collaboration. We invite residents, officials and other stakeholders to come to the table one last time to have your voices heard as we evaluate each of the projects being considered.
The participation has been incredible in this unique co-design process that started with the announced launch of LA SAFE by Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards in March. Over the last year, our planning team has engaged with more than 1,750 people at nearly 50 meetings across the six LA SAFE parishes. Additionally, the team has received a multitude of feedback from participants who have joined us online.
For the previous round of meetings, Round 4, that wrapped up in early November, residents reviewed and provided feedback on the draft strategies developed by the LA SAFE team as a result of several rounds of collaborative meetings. In this round, the planning team has worked with residents, parish officials, NGO partners and other supporters of this initiative to narrow down the potential catalytic project list in order to provide Round 5 participants the opportunity to come out and evaluate which projects make the most sense in their parish.
That’s right! We are saying that you will have a direct impact on what could be funded as a result of this initiative by coming out and making your voice heard and your preference known. Opportunities to select your favorite project(s) will be provided on-site at the last round of meetings, which also serves as a chance to celebrate everyone’s hard work with food, music, art and other staples of your parish’s diverse culture.
