Local residents had a chance last week to take part in an informational meeting held by LA SAFE, or Louisiana’s Strategic Adaptation for Future Environments.
The forum at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center attracted about 100 people. And officials are hopeful that future meetings will get even more public participation.
We all have a stake in the fight against coastal erosion and the challenges posed by the changes we expect to see along our coast in the coming decades.
The goal of LA SAFE is to get the conversation started, with attention focused on how we will make as many of us as possible as safe as possible as we continue to encounter coastal erosion, subsidence and sea level rise.
